Bearcats battle, fall to Catamounts, 68-54

VESTAL (WBNG) — Redshirt freshman Tyler Stewart scored a team-high 12 points, but Binghamton still dropped its fifth straight, 68-54, to Vermont Wednesday night in front of 4,445 fans at the Events Center.

"They’re a solid team in every aspect, and you kind of have to play your ‘A’ game to beat them, and we didn’t play an ‘A’ game tonight," Binghamton head coach Tommy Dempsey said.

Binghamton (10-14, 1-8 AE) was outscored 32-12 in the paint, a result of losing the rebounding battle, 45-31 (18-8 on the offensive glass).

Four Catamounts (18-5, 8-0 AE) scored in double figures for a Vermont team that has now rolled off 29 consecutive America East victories.

"Honestly, what I took away is that we as players have to step up, myself included," said Tyler Stewart. "We had a good opportunity tonight. They did what they needed to do to get the win."

Next up, the Bearcats travel to Bangor on Saturday for a 1 p.m. tip against Maine.
