BINGHAMTON (WBNG) – The New York Mets traded Matt Harvey to the Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday in exchange for catcher Devin Mesoraco and cash. Harvey was designated for assignment last week after he refused a minor league assignment. Harvey compiled a 7.00 ERA in eight appearances in 2018 for the Mets.
Mesoraco had a career year in 2014, hitting 25 home runs and making the National League all-star team, but hasn’t played in more than 56 games in a season since due to numerous injuries. Mesoraco is batting .220 in 18 games in 2018.
