Students get hands-on experience at Engineers Day

OWEGO (WBNG) – Lockheed Martin hosted its annual Engineers Day.

The company invited Tioga and Broome County schools to its Owego facility Thursday to learn more about the jobs available in engineering.

About 150 students and teachers got an up-close look at the industry. Students say they were excited to get a hands-on experience.

"It’s definitely a whole lot more fun. It’s a whole lot more hands on," said Newark Valley 8th grader Logan Mann. "I mean, getting like a packet to read that’s kind of boring stuff. This is what gets kids involved in this kind of stuff, and this is what makes them want to do this stuff when they’re older."

Owego’s annual Engineers Day was originally scheduled for earlier this year but was postponed due to school closures from the weather.
