Two historic revitalization projects celebrated in Binghamton

BINGHAMTON (WBNG) – Wednesday afternoon, Binghamton officials celebrated the completion of a revitalization project and the groundbreaking of another.

A groundbreaking ceremony of the Crandall-North Street Revitalization kicked off the afternoon.

Renovations are underway to turn multiple homes in the area into affordable housing.

"Part of the concept of this project is built on the governor’s philosophy of ‘Southern Tier Soaring,’ which is sort of this overall urban revitalization strategy to improve the entire Southern Tier," said Leonard Skrill, the assistant commissioner of NYS Homes and Community Renewal. "That’s part of the reason why we strategically do this type of work."

On Clinton Street, a ribbon cutting ceremony was held for E.J. Apartments.

The former Endicott Johnson Worker’s clinic has been renovated into affordable apartments for senior citizens.
