Tebow exits with injury in Ponies win over Thunder

BINGHAMTON (WBNG) — Tim Tebow singled and scored the game-winning run before leaving with discomfort in his right hand/wrist in the Binghamton Rumble Ponies 3-2 win over the Trenton Thunder Thursday night in front of 4,122 fans at NYSEG Stadium.

Tim Tebow exited the game after his plate appearance in the bottom of the seventh inning.

In the highlight video above, you can clearly see Tebow clench his right hand into a fist multiple times after drawing a six-pitch walk.

"Tim [Tebow] came out of the game not feeling good after a swing," said Rumble Ponies manager Luis Rojas. "He’s going to get checked by the doctor [Friday] morning, and we have to see how his status is going to be. It’s a hand/wrist thing. I think there was one swing where he let go the bottom hand and the top hand finished his swing. He said that he felt something there. We don’t know right now. We’ll have to wait until tomorrow and find out what he has when he gets checked by our doctor in town."

Tebow finished the night 1-for-2 with a single and walk. His batting average now sits at .273.

12 Sports noticed that Tebow had tape over his right hand/wrist while signing autographs during pregame, but Rojas said that had nothing to do with the injury.

"[The tape] had nothing to do with anything," added Rojas. "He actually had a blister and the padding of that blister needed the tape."

Tebow approached Rojas after his third plate appearance to notify his manager of the discomfort in his right hand/wrist.

"He didn’t feel confident with his wrist," said Rojas. "I think once a player tells you something like that you need to get him to the medical department. So our trainer Bob Grimes, right away, started interacting and attending to him, and doing the proper treatment. Now we have to see what comes out of it."

According to Rojas, Tebow will have an MRI on his right hand/wrist Friday morning.
