Jesper Parnevik on his flipped up ball cap: ‘I actually wanted to get a sun tan’

ENDICOTT (WBNG) – If you enjoy fashion and golf, you have a couple of things in common with Jesper Parnevik. The golf legend known for his must-see outfits and flipped up ball cap is back in Endicott for his third DICK’S Sporting Goods Open. 12 Sports caught up with Parnevik Wednesday and asked him the history behind the brim-up hat style.

"Came from Sweden, very pale, and I actually wanted to get a sun tan," said Parnevik. "Then I started putting better having it flipped up, so I just kept it that way."

Parnevik hasn’t found much success at the En-Joie Golf Club on the PGA Tour Champions, his best finish tied for 26th. Other than soaking in the rays at the golf course, Parnevik says the shots he hits well keep him coming back for more.

"Ooo, that’s definitely a love-hate relationship," said Parnevik. "I actually think you hate it more than you love it, but that’s what gets you back though, those days when it clicks. You hit those shots that feel just the way you want them to feel and its a mysterious game. It’s almost like joining a cult or something, when you get hooked, you are hooked."

First round of the DICK’S Sporting Goods Open is still scheduled to tee off Friday.
