Sorenstam hosts UHS Golf Expo, hopes to inspire young girls

ENDICOTT (WBNG) – World Golf Hall of Fame, 72 LPGA victories, 10 major championships, just a few of Annika Sorenstam’s accomplishments. Sorenstam is arguably the top female golfer of all-time and was in Endicott on Wednesday to host the UHS Golf Expo.

Before Sorenstam could start teaching how to play golf like Annika, the DICK’S Sporting Goods Foundation made a 50-thousand dollar donation to the ANNIKA Foundation’s "Share My Passion" girls golf clinic, which introduces young girls to the game of golf and there were plenty of young ladies in attendance getting Annika’s autograph and learning from the hall of famer.

"Support like this will continue to make us work harder," said Sorenstam. "We have a plan for the next 10 years and certainly that is to get more girls involved, inspire more girls to follow their dreams. "Like I said before, sports is so important. It is not just about running around and being active. It teaches you so much about life."
