Sarah’s Paws For Cause helps local animal shelters

The Sarah Jayne Orton Memorial Foundation was created by the Orton family to memorialize the life of their five year old daughter, Sarah. Sarah loved all things animals and for her fifth birthday Sarah asked that all of her birthday gifts be given as donations to the Baltimore Humane Society, the shelter where her dog, Scooter had been adopted.

Sadly, in October 2013, Sarah passed away suddenly due to sepsis, just a few months after her fifth birthday.

The Orton family has held at least one event every year and draised more than $10,000. Any and all funds raised are distributed to different animal shelters between Upstate New York and Maryland.

The event this year will be held on October 6 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Hickories Park in Owego, rain or shine, at Pavilion 4.

The event is free for anyone attending. There will be a one mile dog walk around the park, registration is at 11 .m., live music from Mathews Family Tradition will be playing, nail trimming for your pets, pet contests including cutest, oldest, looks most like their owner, Halloween costume and more, basket raffle, K-9 Demo with police dog, vendors, face painting and more.
