Troopers arrest Conklin stabbing suspect

CONKLIN (WBNG) — New York State Police say a stabbing suspect faces first-degree assault after a stabbing Sunday evening.

Troopers say they responded to 663 Conklin Road after hearing reports of a stabbing. Authorites say one person was treated for a puncture wound after a fight took place.

Binghamton police later spotted the vehicle that left the scene with the suspect, 67-year-old Douglas Slater, inside on Burr Avenue in Binghamton.

Troopers say Slater was a passenger in the vehicle. He was taken into custody and sent to the Broome County Jail without bail.

Slater is charged with first-degree assault.

The victim underwent surgery at Wilson Hospital following the stabbing. There is no word yet on the victim’s condition.
