Plates in the Paint

BINGHAMTON (WBNG) — Two Rochester natives, 12 Sports Director Larry Burneal and Binghamton University women’s basketball coach Bethann Shapiro Ord, sat down at Binghamton Hots to eat a favorite meal in Rochester, a garbage plate, and preview the upcoming women’s basketball season.

On how the team is shaping up less than two weeks until the first game:

“It’s still a progress,” said Binghamton women’s basketball coach Bethann Shapiro Ord. “Still a work in progress, but I really like the energy that they bring everyday. They’ve been doing a terrific job of embracing the new staff and our style of basketball.”

On how crucial Kai Moon will be running the Bearcats’ offense:

“She’s been tremendous so far,” said Shapiro Ord. “I think she’s really understanding the tempo of how she’s going to have opportunity to really attack the rim to get her shots up. I think it’s great for everybody.”

On what Shapiro Ord is most excited about as her first season at helm approaches:

“Just seeing these girls shine,” said Shapiro Ord. “Seeing these girls get to the next level.”

The Binghamton women’s basketball season kicks off inside the Events Center on Tuesday, November 6 at 5:30 p.m. against the University of Charleston.
