Cuomo directs flags to be flown at half-staff in honor of shooting victims

(WBNG) — Governor Andrew Cuomo has ordered all flags in state government buildings to be flown at half staff in honor of the victims of recent shootings in Kentucky and Pittsburgh.

The Governor’s Office directed that flags should be flown at half-staff on Monday, October 29 until sunset on Sunday, November 4 to honor the victims of the shootings at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh where 11 people were killed, and the shooting at a supermarket in Jeffersontown, Kentucky, which killed two more people.

The governor also issued a call for “peace and civility.”

“I am directing that flags be flown at half-staff in honor of the victims of the recent horrific shootings,” said Governor Andrew Cuomo in a press release, “and I join with all New Yorkers to call for peace and civility and to denounce hate in all its forms.”
