WBNG’s Coats for Kids campaign is underway, how you can help

BINGHAMTON (WBNG) — Between now and the month of November you can help by donating gently used or new children’s coats at different local businesses.

“To see what we deliver, what we get, what the community gives to us, when we take those coats to charities that deliver the coats to the children and to see their faces, that they’re going to be warm walking out of the house, that’s what makes it all worth it,” said WBNG General Manager Bob Krummenacker.

One of the sponsors for the Coats for Kids campaign includes Hatala Orthodontics in Johnson City.

“Most of the patients in our practice are in that adolescent child age range and so we’re dealing with them everyday,” said Hatala Orthodontics orthodontist Mark Hatalla.

Hatala Orthodontics has been a sponsor for this campaign since the beginning.

“We see needs in our office on patients on a daily basis,” he said. “So to be able to give to the community of children that need far beyond what we see here on a daily basis just means a lot.”

Patrick Scannel an orthodontist at Hatala Orthodontics says it’s important to lend a helping hand.

“We’re all so lucky to work here and be part of the community,” said Scannel. “This practice has been established for fifty-five years. So to be able to give back on a bigger scale than just the two of us could alone, it’s great to involve everyone in the community.”

There are other local businesses who are taking part in the campaign as well.

This includes Raymour and Flanigan in Johnson City, ServPro in Binghamton and New York Mutual Insurance in Edmeston.

Coats for Kids wraps up November 30.
