Daytime Halloween events allow families to minimize tricks, maximize treats

BROOME COUNTY (WBNG) — For children across the country, Halloween is all about one thing:

“We like getting candy,” said Sophie, who was at the daytime Halloween event at the Greater Binghamton Airport.

The event at the airport, one of several morning and afternoon events across the area, was held so that families with younger children could still get the full Halloween experience.

Another reason why families and especially parents wanted to attend is because it’s safe.

“I mean in the neighborhood, everything has its ups and downs. It’s just knowing what you’re getting with the candy and not having to go to the doctors or the dentist to x-ray it so it’s really nice to have that security and safety blanket,” said Jay Long, who was at the event with his toddler John.

Airport officials said they love throwing the event because it gives the community a chance to interact with the airport, but also have a safe space to trick or treat.
