(WBNG) – Republican Representative Tom Reed held onto his seat for the 23rd Congressional District in Tuesday’s election against Democrat Tracy Mitrano.
Reed tallied 122,881 to Mitrano’s 100,495 after all election districts reported in.
Reed won a special election in 2010 to replace former Congressman Eric Massa. Reed also served a term as the mayor of Corning, New York.
Mitrano is from the Finger Lakes region and was the director of information technology policy at Cornell University from 2001 to 2014. She also received her Masters Degree and Ph.D. from Binghamton University.
The 23rd Congressional district consists of all or part of 11 counties, including most of Tioga County and the entirety of Tompkins County.
