Sessoms shines in debut, but Bearcats fall to Cornell

VESTAL (WBNG) — Freshman guard Sam Sessoms exploded for 27 points, including 16 in the first half, in his Binghamton debut Tuesday night, but Cornell spoiled the Bearcats’ home opener inside the Events Center, winning 86-75.

Sessoms, a Philadelphia, Pennsylvania native, played a game-high 33 minutes in his debut, finishing 12-20 from the field. The freshman added five rebounds and a team-high four assists.

Richard Caldwell Jr. and J.C. Show both scored in double-digits for the Bearcats in the loss.

Cornell dominated the glass outrebounding the Bearcats by ten. Matt Morgan scored 38 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in the victory for the Big Red.

Final Score: Cornell (1-0) – 86, Binghamton (0-1) – 75

Binghamton is back inside the Events Center Friday, November 9 against New Jersey Institute of Technology. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m.
