Brindisi’s lead over Tenney widens to 1,500 votes

(WBNG) — The challenger to Rep. Claudia Tenney’s (R) congressional seat is widening his lead, as several boards of elections are counting absentee ballots.

The Cortland County Board of Elections completed its absentee ballot counts, which provided Anthony Brindisi (D) with 612 votes and Tenney with 405 votes.

This total, when added to the previous vote totals in the 22nd Congressional District, puts Brindisi’s lead at exactly 1,500 votes.

As of 1:04 p.m. on Thursday, absentee ballots in Broome, Herkimer, Madison, Oneida, Oswego, and Tioga Counties were still being counted.

Counting of Chenango County absentee ballots begin at 10 a.m. Friday in Norwich.
