7:00 P.M. MONDAY UPDATE: After a press conference Monday morning, 12 News is hearing more from officials regarding the major drug post in Deposit on November 30.
The bust seized several pounds of Methamphetamine, Fentanyl and Heroin, as well as nearly $25,000 in cash. Defendants are facing numerous charges and are being held without bail.
Johnson City Police Chief Brent Dodge says, “With the amount they seized is equivalent to a half a million lethal doses of Fentanyl, which would be enough to kill every man, woman and child in Broome County, two and a half times over.”
Binghamton Police Chief Joseph Zikuski adds, “Obviously this is a huge seizure for Broome County, it ranks right up there with the biggest seizures probably in the history of the county.”
Broome County Sheriff David Harder said the Fentanyl alone had a value of roughly $1,000,000.
Dodge said with the amount of Fentanyl that was confiscated, officials saved lives from overdose deaths. He calls the bust the largest he’s seen in the area.
Officials could not speak to where the drugs came from or if they are investigating others involved.
