Gov. Cuomo to soon decide on interactive pothole website

ALBANY, N.Y. (WBNG) — Governor Andrew Cuomo has until the end of the year to approve or veto legislation at his desk that would create a toll-free hotline and interactive website where drivers can report potholes.

The bill is sponsored by New York Assemblyman Thomas Abinanti.

The New York State Department of Transportation already has a pothole hotline, but the bill states that the “proposed interactive website would allow drivers to assist the Department in identifying and prioritizing work.”

Lawmakers say the number and severity of potholes on New York state roads are creating an “emergency situation” which needs to be addressed.

If approved by the governor, the new hotline and website would need to be created within 120 days.
