B-Devils Sit-down – All-Star Quenneville joins the show

BINGHAMTON (WBNG) — Binghamton Devils forward and AHL All-Star John Quenneville joins 12 Sports Director Larry Burneal for the latest edition of B-Devils Sit-down. This week’s topics include, Quenneville heading to his first AHL All-Star Classic, how he can earn a permanent spot in New Jersey and the language barrier playing with Yegor Sharangovich and Marian Studenic.

On his excitement level to compete in the AHL All-Star Classic for the first time after missing the game in 2017 due to an illness:

“It’s exciting for sure,” said Binghamton Devils forward John Quenneville. “First opportunity to actually attend the event. I wasn’t able to go the first time around, so it should be a good experience.”

On the challenges of bouncing between the NHL and AHL:

“It’s tough obviously,” said Quenneville. “You’re moving around, you’re switching teams. Kind of getting adjusted, then unadjusted and then adjusted, but it’s the way she goes. It’s the situation I’m in right now and I’m trying to work through it and just do the best I can.”

On playing on a line with Yegor Sharangovich and Marian Studenic, who with Quenneville, combine to speak three different languages:

“It’s fine,” said Quenneville. “I think the language thing isn’t really much of a deal at all. We’re all pretty skilled players, I think, and we’re just kind of vibing off each other and making plays and having fun. The communication part is pretty easy when you’re looking for each other out there on the ice. I don’t think you need to speak the same language, you just gotta be on the same page and try to play the same kind of game.”

On what he needs to work on to earn a permanent spot with the New Jersey Devils:

“I think just continuing to work on my game and I think opportunity is going to come for me,” said Quenneville. “I think I’ve done a good job playing in the AHL this year, so it’s just a matter of continuing to work on my game. Try to improve every day at practice and I think I’m going to get to where I want to be.”

The Binghamton Devils are on the road Friday night at Utica. Puck drops at 7 p.m.
