TOWN OF NORWICH (WBNG) — The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office says three people were charged with burglary following a vehicle pursuit that led law enforcement through multiple towns.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies and New York State Police attempted to stop the 1998 Subaru Legacy when 24-year-old Dakota Davenport was driving 101 mph on County Road 32 in Norwich last Thursday. Officials say there were two other passengers in the vehicle.
Deputies say as the pursuit continued from Norwich to McDonough for approximately 45 minutes, the people inside threw several items from the vehicle including saws, clothing, gun cases and BB guns.
Authorities say Davenport eventually stopped the vehicle on Tucker Road in McDonough and ran off.
According to the sheriff’s office, passengers Macey Newkirk, 26, and Zane Marvin, 36, were immediately taken into custody.
A deputy and K9 responded to the scene and tracked Davenport for more than five miles before was taken into custody by members of the sheriff’s office, state police and Norwich police.
Authorities say interviews led law enforcement to believe the group burglarized a home in Pharsalia earlier that same day.
Davenport, Newkirk and Marvin were charged with burglary in the third degree and reckless endangerment. Davenport was charged with additional vehicle and traffic law violations, authorities say.
All three were arraigned in Town of Oxford Court and sent to the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office.
