BINGHAMTON (WBNG) — The Rumble Ponies are gearing up for Superbowl 2019 by partnering with the United Way of Broome County to host a “Soup’er” Bowl Can Drive.
Starting January 25 through January 31, the team is collecting canned goods to donate to the Southern Tier AIDS Program.
“It’s all about giving back to the community and taking something like the Superbowl that everybody watches you know and making it go back and do something good,” said Eddie Saunders, Director of Community Relations for the Rumble Ponies.
This is the first year of the drive. Saunders say there are even incentives to donate.
“We’ll have two tickets ready for them for any Monday thorugh Wednesday game in April and they can check out the team store as well and get some deals for opening day,” he said.
All non-perishable food can be dropped off at the Armory Team Store at NYSEG Stadium.
The team says it’s a fun way to give back to our community. Their goal is to raise 200 to 300 canned good items.
“It’s a big deal for the Rumble Ponies to just be the best neighbor that we can be for any community partner that we have out there,” said Saunders.
The Super Bowl is on WBNG on Sunday, February 3.
