10:50 P.M. UPDATE

KIRKWOOD (WBNG) — State police say a suspect was killed after exchanging gunfire with a trooper on State Route 17 in Kirkwood around 6:20 p.m. Monday.

State police say the trooper, whose name has not been released, was taken to Wilson Memorial Hospital for treatment and is expected to recover.

The suspect’s name has not yet been released.
