Binghamton University’s Relay For Life kicks off their planning season

BINGHAMTON (WBNG) — While still months away, preparations for the biggest fundraiser on Binghamton University’s campus officially began tonight.

The 2019 Relay For Life Kick Off celebration took place Friday evening.

Last year, the relay raised $72,000 to contribute to the nationwide fundraiser for the American Cancer Society.

The goal this year is $100,000.

This year’s theme was also revealed to be “A Night in New York City.”

In addition to learning information about the event, it was a time for the organization to come together and celebrate what they can accomplish.

“The official slogan I guess you could call of Relay for Life is ‘celebrate, remember fight back.’ And so this is really our opportunity to celebrate,” says Alyssa Wei, Binghamton University Relay for Life Executive Co-Director.

The relay is scheduled for April 26th.

Until then, organizers will be holding fundraising events, recruitment pushes and planning entertainment.
