NYC mayor to testify at hearing on Cuomo’s budget proposal

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio and his counterparts in the state’s largest cities are scheduled to provide testimony before a joint legislative hearing on Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s budget proposal.

De Blasio and the mayors of Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, Albany and Yonkers are on Monday’s agenda at the Albany hearing on local government funding.

De Blasio is expected to be grilled about the Amazon deal and New York City’s subway system.

The mayors will tell members of the Senate and Assembly fiscal committees about local funding needs as the Legislature examines Cuomo’s $175 billion budget plan for the next fiscal year starting April 1.

Other testimony is expected by New York City Council Speaker Corey Johnson; Nassau County Executive Laura Curran; and representatives from county and town associations.
