LONG ISLAND (WBNG) — The Binghamton men’s basketball team will head to Vermont on Tuesday for the America East semifinals.
The seven seeded Bearcats will take on the top seeded Catamounts, marking their first trip to the semifinals since 2009, the year the program last won the conference championship. Ahead of the game, Coach Tommy Dempsey spoke to 12 Sports about how the teams match up.
“I think there’s a lot of positives as far as the way we match up,” said Coach Dempsey. “We do some things that give them some trouble, I think. but more importantly it’s about our ability to go up there and play great. We have a lot of respect for them. I saw that ESPN power index gave them a 98.6 percent chance of winning tomorrow night. so we’re going to take our 1.6 percent chance and give it hell.”
As for the seniors, every time they step foot on the court, it could be their last. Senior guard J.C. Show told 12 Sports how important Saturday’s win over Stony Brook was.
“It just means that we lived to play another day. We get to go play another game tomorrow. You’re just fighting for your life, fighting for your season, fighting for our careers. It’s really rewarding when you’re able to come out on top, and we’re trying to do that again tomorrow.”
