(WBNG) — If you’re planning to celebrate on St. Patrick’s Day make sure you have a plan to get home safe.
12 News spoke to the Broome County Sheriff’s Office Friday about DWI crackdowns during the holiday weekend.
The Sheriff’s Office will be working with different police agencies and the Stop DWI program to put extra patrols on the road.
When approaching a crackdown period, the Sheriff’s Office says to have a plan in place.
“There’s all sorts of things you can do these days. They have an app you can get on your smartphone. You have Uber and Lyft. All that we ask is that if you are going to go out and partake in festivities just please have a plan in place and follow that plan,” said Captain Kathleen Newcomb of the Broome County Sheriff’s Office.
Indications of someone driving under the influence are failure to maintain their lane of travel, having a reduced speed, and traveling the wrong way.
