B-Devils extend losing streak to 9 games

SPRINGFIELD (WBNG) — The Binghamton Devils dropped their ninth straight game on Friday night, falling to the Springfield Thunderbirds, 7-2.

The B-Devils fell into an early 3-0 hole, but would get on the board in the second period. Ryan Schmelzer scored his 11th goal of the season to pull within two, but the Thunderbirds shut down that rally, scoring two more goals to open the third period.

Nikita Popugaev also scored for Binghamton. The B-Devils visit the Providence Bruins Saturday night, and will return home Friday, March 29.

Final score: Binghamton (24-36-6-0) – 2, Springfield (28-26-7-5) – 7
