Community holds celebration in honor of Barbie’s 60th

BINGHAMTON (WBNG) — An iconic children’s toy is celebrating ts 60th anniversary and the local community is honoring everything Barbie has meant to them.

The doll was debuted in early March of 1959, and since then has become a staple of childhood’s across the globe.

The New York Skin and Vein Center in Binghamton held an event Wednesday showcasing all of the anti–aging services they offer such as lip injections, Botox and face lifts, and staff said it was a fitting time to celebrate everything that has come out of the last 60 years.

“I just turned 60, and so my generation is turning 60 and guess what? We don’t want to look 60 like our parents did and we don’t feel 60, we’re healthier than our parents and previous generations are and so we’re just celebrating life and having a great time,” said Eric Dohner, the owner of NY Skin and Vein Center.

All of the proceeds from the event benefited RISE, a shelter for victims of domestic violence.
