BRONX (WBNG) — The injury bug continues to hit the New York Yankees. Outfielder Giancarlo Stanton (bicep) and infielder Miguel Andujar (shoulder) are the latest players to be placed on the injured list.
Stanton joins Aaron Hicks (back) and Jacoby Ellsbury (hip) as outfielders who are injured to begin the season. Stanton played Sunday in a loss to the Orioles, striking out twice and drawing three walks. He is hitting .250 to begin the season.
Andujar suffered a small labrum tear in his right shoulder. Manager Aaron Boone says he will be treated conservatively for two weeks, with season-ending surgery on the table.
Pitchers C.C. Sabathia, Luis Severino and Dellin Betances are also on the IL to begin the season. The Yankees beat the Tigers in game one of their series tonight, 3-1.
