Binghamton woman on a mission to clean up her neighborhood

BINGHAMTON (WBNG) — A Binghamton woman is on a mission to tidy her neighborhood by organizing a community cleanup.

Carita Puglisi loves being from Binghamton, but lately, she’s been a little disappointed.

Describing one spot downtown, “it always has solo cups and some garbage, but people are starting to dump actual garbage bags,” said Puglisi, “it looks horrible.”

With the littered scene bringing her down, she’s decided to take action.

On Thursday, April 18, she’s hosting a community cleanup.

“I figured many hands make light work.”

The cleanup will kick off at 3 p.m. near Water and East Clinton Streets. Puglisi is bringing a trailer to collect the trash in and encourages attendees to bring rakes and garbage bags.

“With care and devotion work is love made visible, so if you love the city and you love where you live, give back.”
