BINGHAMTON (WBNG) — In March, Broome County’s unemployment rate stood at 4.9 percent. That’s nearly a one-point decrease from a year ago when it was 5.8 percent, according to the latest statistics from the New York State Department of Labor.
Broome County Executive Jason Garnar said in a tweet, “Broome County now has the LOWEST amount of people unemployed in 18 years. More work to do but this is great progress!”
Nationally, the unemployment rate was 3.9 percent in March of this year, down from 4.1 percent in March 2018.
