SIDNEY, N.Y. (WBNG) — A new lab was unveiled at Sidney High School, designed to give students experience in metal working.
The lab is accompanied by a trade skill course which six students have already completed.
The students enrolled in the new course have created bins, tables, and racks used inside the new lab.
“The trades, we hear all the time that they’re lacking. We can’t get good employees, we can’t retain good employees. I think by these students going through the Toyota production service training, the principles of that, it really taught them about efficiency, being an effective employee.”
Out of the six students in the new program, five will enter the welding field next year.
Two of these students will be working in the field for Raymond Corporation.
