Rotary Club donates $3,800 to Whitney Point Fire Department

WHITNEY POINT (WBNG) — A local volunteer organization is making an effort to help first responders in their area.

The Whitney Point Rotary Club invited the Whitney Point Fire Department to their general meeting to personally present them with a donation of $3,800.

The money was raised from their 10th annual taste of spring event.

The rotary club and fire department say their partnership is important to serving their community.

“It’s very nice having the rotary’s support,” says Nick Sculley, Village of Whitney Point Fire Chief. “They’ve always supported us. We try to do the best we can to support them with their events.”

“I think we’d get a lot further if we can figure out ways to be more collaborative, and if this is the start of that, then it’s a good step forward,” says Eric Birdsall, Whitney Point Rotary Club Treasurer.

Whitney Point Fire Department says the money will be going towards training and education for its staff.
