Deposit claims Class D state championship

MOREAU (WBNG) – On Saturday, Deposit won two games to claim the Class D state championship. This is Deposit’s fourth title in the last five years.

Class D semifinals final score:

Riley Martin had two big hits early on to get Deposit’s bats going. She had four RBI’s in the games first five innings.

The Lady Lumberjacks scored five runs in the fifth inning to take a commanding lead. Mackenzie Stiles pitched a complete game and drove in two runs in the win.

In the title game Deposit’s, Brynn Martin, got the party started with a three run home run.

Alaina Smith and Ashten Staton would combine to bring home the fourth Deposit run. Of course, Mackenzie Stiles was once again on a mission putting up zeroes all the way through and didn’t give up her first hit until there were two outs in the seventh inning.

This is the sixth state title in Deposit’s school history.
