(WBNG) — The United Way of Broome County has launched a book drive to promote summer reading as part of its “Day of Action” celebration.
The organization says it is collecting brand new books for children, ages kindergarten through fifth grade.
Book donations can be dropped off from Friday, June 21 through Sunday, June 30 at the following locations:
101 S. Jensen Road
Lee Barta Community Center
108 Liberty Street,
Organizers say all books will be donated to children participating in summer programs throughout Broome County. United Way of Broome County has teamed up with the Binghamton Rumble Ponies to pack and the distribute books.
Last year, more than 500 new books were collected and distributed to local children.
