New community stage coming to Otsiningo Park

TOWN OF DICKINSON (WBNG) — A brand new venue is coming to Otsiningo Park. Crews are building an outdoor community stage.

“The idea is to make something that is good for community theater, is good for Broome Bands Together, something that’s going to fit the ambiance of the park,” said Commissioner of Public Works Leslie Boulton.

The project is led by the Department of Public Works. It should be completed soon, as long as it doesn’t rain too much.

“We’re trying to get it done by July, that’s the timeline but of course we need the cooperation from mother nature and when it rains we cant pour concrete,” said Boulton.

The budget for the project is $200,000. It is funded by a grant and county funds.

“Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo helped by securing a SAM grant for us for $125,000 and the county put in about $75,000 of match money,” Boulton explained.

The Department of Public Works said the stage will be used for community events like Spiedie Fest, Broome Bands Together and hopefully will attract new events to Otsiningo Park.
