HARPURSVILLE (WBNG) — The New York Faerie Festival in Harpursville Saturday drew hundreds of visitors seeking a chance to escape reality in a mystical forest.
The attendees all dressed as fairies, elves, and other fantasy creatures.
The festival also allowed local vendors to showcase their own art, many creating costumes for the event.
For some, the festival is a chance to become someone else for the weekend, while enjoying nature.
“I come to the faerie festival because I like to play with kids,” explained a ‘Woodsprite’ named Thimble Berry. “I like to play with all the kids, the little kids, the big kids, and all the kids in between. And I have a game that I play with them, they pick a hand and I make a present and then we’re friends forever.”
There is still a chance to experience the fantasy world. The Faerie Festival continues Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m..
