Small plane ‘lands hard’ at Norwich airport, no injuries reported

NORWICH (WBNG) — Emergency crews responded to a report of a small plane landing hard at the Lt. Warren Eaton Airport Saturday morning.

The City of Norwich/Chenango County Emergencies Operations Center says the experimental aircraft was damaged after landing on the grass between the runway and taxiway, but the only occupant, the pilot, was not injured.

Authorities say the incident occurred around 9:30 a.m.

The operations center says the incident is currently being investigated by the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office and Federal Aviation Administration.

The Norwich Fire Department, City of Norwich Emergency Management, Chenango County Bureau of Fire, Chenango County Sheriff’s Office, and New York State Police responded to the incident.
