TOWN OF MAINE (WBNG) — While the sun brought heat on Thursday, many came out to also experience its beauty. As the sun was setting, hundreds lined up to take part in the Annual Sunset Runway 5K.
Attendance doubled from last year’s, making it the best turn-out in its 3 years of being held.
The run was held at the Greater Binghamton Airport, a perfect place to experience Broome County’s golden hour.
“I think it would be cool to see just what it looks like out in the runway and as the sun is setting I’m sure it will be a good view over the valley,” says Sara Day, who was participating in the race.
“Yeah I its just a nice perspective that you don’t normally get,” adds her father Rick Day, who also participated.
For those not interested in running, there was food, music and games to enjoy while experiencing the sunset.
A portion of its proceeds will go to the Twin Tiers Honor Flight.
