Expect big heat and humidity to arrive starting tomorrow. Highs will be in the low 90s Friday and Saturday. The heat index will be 98-107 both days. Heat of this magnitude is life-threatening and dangerous. It needs to be taken seriously. Overnight lows stay in the low 70s. Even with the ridge in place, any small disturbance, coupled with the heat, could touch a few isolated storms off in the heating of the afternoon and evening. The chance of precipitation is 40% Friday and 20% Saturday but we anticipate long dry periods. Some storms are possible Friday afternoon and evening and any storm could be strong to severe with gusty winds and torrential rain the primary threats. Friday night lows will stay in the 70s.
Sunday remains very warm and muggy with highs in the mid to upper 80s. The chance of rain and storms is 30% with heat indices still in the low to mid 90s.
By next Monday, relief starts to build into the region as highs drop into the upper 70s with a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms. Tuesday brings a sun and cloud mix with highs in the upper 70s. Wednesday has highs in the upper 70s with a slight chance of a few showers.
