Stop DWI Tournament of Champions brings 1,000 athletes to Binghamton

TOWN OF DICKINSON (WBNG) — Hundreds of high school athletes from across the Northeast are in Binghamton this weekend for the annual Stop DWI Tournament of Champions.

It kicked off Friday at the BAGSAI Softball Complex on Cutler Pond Road.

A total of 74 teams will take the field between Friday and Sunday at multiple venues throughout the area.

With temperatures climbing into the 90s, tournament director Lou Bishop says play will be halted if conditions become unsafe.

“They’ve been emailed out, stay hydrated, stay cool,” Bishop tells 12 News. “We are going to monitor the weather and the heat index according to the New York State high school policy and take it from there.”
