Binghamton singer/songwriter, Matthew Cornwell to open for Kansas at Spiedie Fest

Matthew Cornwell is a local singer/songwriter who captivates the ones around him every time he performs. He’s going to be opening for the band Kansas on Sunday, August 4 at Spiedie Fest.

His biography from his Facebook explains a little more about his past: “Being born to a Navy family in Washington, DC and relocating to Binghamton, NY at an early age, Matthew is no stranger to exploring uncharted waters. With the goal of creating a forward sounding R&B and POP fusion, Matthew began his professional career at 19 when he moved to Las Vegas, NV. There he would spend time as a lead vocalist in a cover band playing lounges and casinos while producing his first project “The Summer Collection Volume 1”. Two years and one heartbreak later he would complete his first full length album entitled “II IX I I” (2911), a testament to both his diversity as an artist, and his ability to infuse raw emotion into his works. In May of 2018, Matthew released his 2nd studio work entitled “Icarus”, likening his journey through the past four years to the Greek myth. His relatable lyrics, partnered with a strong singing ability and dashes of unfiltered rap allow him to diversify his sound and create music in a genre of it’s own.”

Matthew has recently been traveling performing his music in places like the Turning Stone Resort and Casino, Pennsylvania, Tioga Downs and more.

His upcoming performance includes opening for the iconic band, Kansas, at Spiedie Fest on Sunday, August 4 at 4 p.m. He will also be at the Great New York State Fair on August 24 and at Hope Lake Lodge on August 31. Like his page on Facebook to keep up with his latest shows.
