Several agencies battle blaze at Bainbridge fire chief’s barn

10:30 A.M. UPDATE:

BAINBRIDGE (WBNG) — Bainbridge Fire Chief Fred Bell says it was his barn that caught fire Sunday night.

Multiple fire departments battled the blaze at 125 Corbin Road, home to Fred R. Bell Hay, Cattle, And Auction Service.

According to Bell, there were 10,000 bails of hay inside.  He tells 12 News a neighbor knocked on his door to alert him to the fire approximately 50 minutes after he went to bed Sunday night.

Bell says the cause of the fire is under investigation.

ORIGINAL STORY:

BAINBRIDGE (WBNG) — A barn fire broke out late Sunday night on a property in Bainbridge.

Several fire departments responded to the scene at 125 Corbin Road.

It appears the fire initially started in the barn, which was filled with hay, and then worked its way to the house.

No word on how damaged the house is, but the barn burned to the ground.

When 12 News left the scene around 1:30 a.m., firefighters were still spraying the rubble to put out any hot spots.

Fire departments from Bainbridge, Sidney, Masonville, Trout Creek, and Coventry were on the scene well into the early morning hours.
