National Night Out set to bond local law enforcement and communities

BINGHAMTON (WBNG) — Wednesday morning, Binghamton Mayor Rich David, alongside officials from Binghamton Police Department, released information on where to go during National Night Out.

National Night Out is a nationwide event that happens on the first Tuesday of August, its a community building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie.

The night serves a purpose to not only build relationships, but to also increase awareness when it comes to crime and drug prevention, gain support for anti-crime initiatives and to send a message to criminals that neighborhoods are organized and ready to fight back.

“If you see something, you should say something and people shouldn’t assume that someone else has the same information they have or somebody else will contact police. Police can’t do it by themselves, they rely on this relationship.” said Binghamton Mayor Rich David.

National Night Out will take place on August 6 across the country and here in our area.
