BINGHAMTON (WBNG) — On Paint the Park Pink night, the Rumble Ponies split their doubleheader with the Harrisburg Senators, dropping game one 4-2, and winning game two in walk-off fashion, 5-4.
In game one, with Kevin Smith on the mound, the Senators struck first, scoring two runs in the fourth. Former Met T.J. Rivera, who was picked up by the Nationals over the weekend, added another in the fifth on an RBI double.
Smith (L, 2-1): 4 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 5 BB, 5 K
Mike Paez hit a solo home run in the fifth, followed by an RBI single off the bat of Luis Carpio on a pinch-hit in the 6th. That was all the Ponies bats could muster, as they dropped game one.
Rumble Ponies – 2 (57-55), Senators – 4 (62-51)
In game two, the Senators struck first again. Harrisburg scored four runs off Joseph Shaw in the second inning. It was a thrilling ending in RumbleTown, with the rally beginning in the 9th. Down 4-1, Mike Paez plated a run on an RBI single, and Patrick Mazeika hit a three-run, walk-off home run as the Ponies avoided the doubleheader sweep.
