Local country singer receives music nomination

ONEONTA (WBNG) — Krystal Lee, a local country singer and Oneonta native, is nominated for Young Adult Female Vocalist of the Year at the Josie Music Awards in Tennessee.

Krystal, also known as The Country Sweetheart, says she’s shocked at the nomination.

“Out of 23,000 people, they chose me. I felt so honored, so special to be able to have been chosen,” said Lee.

Her dad, Scott Poole, who is also her manager, says they have been waiting their entire lives for this moment.

“I do something I never do. I took my phone to bed and I put it by my nightstand and I waited for that ‘ding’. It dinged. It was so cool to open that. She was actually still sleeping, so I opened up the door and said, ‘you’re on the list,'” said Poole.

Krystal affectionately calls her dad, her ‘dad-ager’. He continuously works to get her name out there, sign her up for gigs, and schedule interviews. Poole says, he couldn’t be more proud of how far his daughter has come.

“I live a great life. I watch her play in my living room all the time. She’s got such a beautiful voice, it’s like listening to the radio,” said Poole.

The Josie Music Awards are on September 21 at Dollywood in Tennessee. If you’d like to learn more about Krystal Lee The Country Sweetheart, visit her Facebook page.
