VESTAL (WBNG) — Meals on Wheels of Western Broome hosted their annual 5k at the Vestal Coal House on Saturday, all to raise money to help the community.
Meals on Wheels works to serve food to local senior citizens who may not have access to hot food. Organizers of the event say the 5k run helps to promote a healthy lifestyle.
“Because we do serve food, it’s partly about nutrition. Having a 5k ties into that with the healthy mindset, so it’s just a good tie in,” said Jackie Pangilinan, executive director of Meals on Wheels of Western Broome.
