BFD: One killed in early morning house fire on Glenwood Avenue

3:59 P.M. UPDATE

BINGHAMTON (WBNG) — The Binghamton Fire Department says all roads are back open following an investigation into a fire that killed one person in a multi-family home at 89 Glenwood Avenue.

Crews say they were dispatched to the scene around 7:28 a.m. and the building suffered significant damage on the second floor.

In addition to this, the fire department says the firefighter who was injured fighting the flames has since been released from the hospital.

BINGHAMTON (WBNG) — The Binghamton Fire Department confirmed to 12 News that there was one fatality in a multi-family home fire early Sunday morning at 89 Glenwood Ave.

Authorities have not released the victim’s identity.

The Binghamton Fire Department says several people have been displaced due to the fire.

Fire officials noted that a firefighter sustained a minor injury battling the flames, but was treated at a local hospital and is expected to be OK.

As of 11:42 a.m., Glenwood Avenue is still blocked off between Downs Avenue and Miles Street.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The Binghamton Police Department also responded to this incident.
