BINGHAMTON (WBNG) — Broome County District Attorney Steve Cornwell’s dog may be tiny, but she plays a big role in his office.
Since 2016, Cornwell has been bringing Bean in to help comfort crime and sex abuse victims as they share the details of their case with investigators.
Cornwell says it’s a difficult conversation for anyone to have, especially children, but Bean makes all the difference.
“Victims of sexual assault pick up and hold her. It instantly provides some relief to them in what is normally a really tough place, you know to come in and talk about the most disgusting things you can imagine,” said Cornwell.
Bean’s friend Cooper has also been helping out for the past year.
The two pups not only provide comfort to victims, but employees too.
