ENDICOTT (WBNG) — It was just five years ago that Kevin Sutherland set a record at En-Joie Golf Club, shooting the first 59 in Champions Tour history. Sutherland holds the only sub-60 round in a PGA Tour Champions Event, and he’s ready to take on this year’s tournament.
Sutherland is having a successful year. He has won three titles on the PGA Tour Champions, with two of them coming this year. Just two years ago, he finished one stroke behind Scott McCarron in the Dick’s Sporting Goods Open. He says aside from that, shooting a 59 is his fondest memory playing in Endicott.
“It was a special moment, and again back to the whole thing, the people made it feel great,” said Sutherland. “Walking up to 18, the ovation I got was something I’ll remember the rest of my life, and they just made it special for me. I just love coming here. You walk out on the golf course, and it just has a great atmosphere.”
